About The Project

Our clients loved to cook and entertain but they were finding their existing kitchen restrictive. Thinking they may need to consider an addition, they invited us to meet with them in their home. Upon review of the space and listening to what our clients wanted to achieve, we quickly devised a way to create the kitchen of their dreams without the need for a costly extension. We removed some non-load-bearing walls between the dining room and family room to open up adjacent spaces. The existing living room, family room and dining room were all relocated so the kitchen could be expanded. Additional windows were added to provide natural light from three exposures. The 9’-0” ceilings were sculpted to visually distinguish the kitchen, breakfast area and living room through the use of traditional moulding and beam treatments. Off-white lacquered Shaker style cabinets with turned wood carved elements were used to convey the feeling of a stately home. The walnut island featured hand-carved corbels and a granite top to distinguish it from the perimeter cabinetry.
